Little Free Library Trademark

Little Free Library has long held the name "Little Free Library", encouraging people to pay for charter, buy rights to use the Little Free Library name, as well as a library kit from the Little Free Library website. After Todd Bol Died (the founder) Tony Bol formed Share With Others, it would appear the two organizations are at odds. Sellers on Etsy and Amazon are selling products for library stewards using the Little Free Library name, directly or indirectly, with out permission (not just Share With Others). The question would be is the Little Free Library Organization protecting it's trademark, or going against the original intention of Todd Bol's Little Free Library vision?

We have found products for Little Free Library stewards such as dresses, note books, garden flags, wallpaper and fabric, as well as Library Locator (an app that helps people find Little Free libraries, and book exchanges). Are all these products in danger of being sued wtih trademark laws?

Little Free Libraries Organization, Founding Family Fighting

One year after the death of Todd Bol, founder of the Little Free Library, his family is pushing back on the nonprofit organization that Bol founded in 2012, saying the Little Free Library is moving in a direction that does not honor the legacy that Bol worked years to create.

Letter from the Executive Director: Little Free Library’s Trademark
"Our only trademark concerns are with those that are selling, for a profit, products under our Little Free Library mark without our permission to do so. This policy is not new. What is recent is we have added new, specific classifications under the trademark that allow us to protect our brand on sales platforms such as Amazon and Etsy, among others. The mark has been registered for years".

Tony Bol claims: Greig’s Letter makes it seem like people (the Bol Family) are challenging the original trademark of “LITTLE FREE LIBRARY” we are not. We are challenging the trademark applications after my brother died that asks for trademark control over “wooden boxes with a storage area for books.” That’s an aggressive power move that brings shame to the spirit of my brother vision of sharing.
