56 Macaulay Street West in downtown Hamilton
Macaulay Street West has two free libraries, meters apart, across the street from one another. The Tiny Black Library is across the street a few houses away.
Located near Bayfront Park and Pier 4 Park.
When I visited North End Free Library, it was fairly full of books. The library blended in with the home, belonging to the Steward.

North End Free Library and Public Bench
Located at 56 Macaulay Street West in downtown Hamilton, the North End Free Library and Public Bench consists of a simple bench of durable ipe wood slats on a sculpted steel frame and a suspended cedar library box with a cast resin window. Embracing Hamilton’s steelmaking heritage, the steel is unfinished and raw, left with all the mill, tool and fabrication marks and traces. A clear-coat has been applied to protect the frame. Books are imprinted with a custom stamp, designed by TCA.

Design Spotlight: The North End Free Library
Sometimes all you need is a bench and a book. Mixed with the right setting and it can be a fairytale of imagination, inspiration, and conversation. In this case, Thier + Curran Architects wrote the perfect story.
