Doing a Library Theme in January or February?

If your a steward who is thinking of doing a library theme , here are some upcoming days to inspire you, or come up with your own.

Every January 2nd is Science Fiction Day chosen to correspond with the official birth date of famed science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. Put some Science Fiction books in your book exchange or Little Free Library

January 4th is Trivia Day, share trivia books with your visitors

January 4th World Braille Day, If you have any braille books to share with your visitors, now is your chance.

January 16th Appreciate A Dragon Day, have any dragon books to share?

January 18th 2019 is Thesaurus Day, if you have a Thesaurus to share with your Little Free Library visitors today is the day.

January 18th is Winnie the Pooh Day Winnie the Pooh Day, celebrated on the birthday of author A A Milne, celebrate by sharing Winnie the Pooh

February 24 – March 2, 2019 Freedom to Read Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed them under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

January 26th is Australia Day Any books by Australian authors or Australia, today is the day to share them.

January 27th National Geographic Day not everyone likes magazines in Little Free Libraries (I do in moderation) share a National Geographic book or magazine.

January 30th Bell Let's Talk Day share books about mental health or emotions.

All of February Library Lovers’ Month

First Saturday in February Take Your Child To The Library Day Encourage young readers with children's books in yoiur Little Free Library or book exchange.

February 1st World Read Aloud Day Encourage readers to read aloud.

February 2nd Candlemas Day and Groundhog Day share books about spring and winter. February 9th Read In The Bathtub Day Share a waterproof book, or a book about baths.

Febuary 14 Valentine's Day share books about love.

February 15th Hippo Day Share a book about Hippos.

February 16th World Whale Day and World Pangolin Day Share some animal books.

February 26th Tell A Fairy Tale Day, share a fairy tale book.

February 27, 2019 Polar Bear Day organized by Polar Bears International a chance to share a book about polar bears.

Ontario Public Library Week
October 15 - 21, 2017

October is Canadian Library Month! During this month, libraries and library partners across Canada raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadians' lives. In Ontario, we celebrate our public libraries during Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW), on October 15 to 21, 2017.

LFLs Get Ready For Canada Day

From building a Free library for Canada's 150th or filling them with books about Canada or by Canadians we honour Canada.

Happy 150 Canada! We've gone Canadian today. Added a little Canadian Christmas in anticipation of our Christmas in July dinner in a few weeks. There are 'Canada 150' napkins to grace some lucky visitors table. Have a great day, eh!

Canada Day Weekend Turner Drive Book Exchange plans on stocking their Book Exchange with books about Canada, and books by Canadian authors.

Stanley Little Free Library in Cambridge, Ontario (Lansdowne Rd S)
For Canada's 150th anniversary from July 1 - July 31 we will featuring only books about Canada or by Canadian authors.

This Family's Canada 150 Project, is a cute new Free Library in Burlington in Alton Village area.

World Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day
First Saturday in May. Our local public library will be giving out free comic books, as well as many other locations across the US and Canada.

Some LFLs and Book Exchanges will also have Comic Books inside them, on this Day.

International Children's Book Day

International Children's Book Day

International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is a yearly event sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), an international non-profit organization. Founded in 1967, the day is observed on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, April 2. Activities include writing competitions, announcements of book awards and events with authors of children's literature.
